Sanford School besties!

MY EDUCATION
I'm in my junior year of high school at Sanford School in Wilmington (Hockessin) Delaware, where I have a 3.64 weighted GPA (3.53 unweighted). I earned a Leadership Scholar Merit Scholarship and my advanced classes include Spanish IV, Honors English and Honors Algebra. I'm currently enrolled in Forensics Science which is related to my interest in pursuing a career in law and forensics.

MY ACTIVITIES

I'm honored to be chosen to represent the US on the International Club Team of USA Gymnastics as Elite Level Acrobatic Gymnast, training at First State Gymnastics (Newark, DE). I accomplished a personal best performance at the Pan American Gymnastics Union Club Cup in Bogota, Columbia in November 2022. I've participated in artistic and acrobatic gymnastics competitions across the US and Caribbean since age 7. I know that my athletic achievements have come along with great challenges, physical and mental. However, each time I overcome a serious hurdle I grow more confident that I can always come up with ideas to manage anything that life brings me.

I was honored to be inducted into the Spanish Honor Society at Sanford School. I developed an ongoing interest in the Spanish language and culture as a young student and want to study other languages in college.

I met new friends from all over the US and the world during the 2022 summer when I studied at Georgetown University's High School Summer Hoya Academy for National Security / Law, to learn more about how national security agencies intersect with the field of law.

I explored my passion for international relations and cultures during the summer of 2022 when I enrolled in Southern New Hampshire University's college course on Interculturalism and Global Exploration, earning an A for studying what I love.
I was Sanford's Student Representative in the 2021 National Student Diversity Leadership Conference, a 3-day conference with student leaders across the nation that has the goal of developing cross-cultural communication opportunities and designing effective strategies for social justice practice through dialogue and the arts.
I was employed as a Camp Counselor at Wilmington Friends School Summer Camp during the summers of 2021 and 2022. I planned and organized recreational activities for young children with the goal of enriching their usual experience, and implemented safety and care measures to protect them.

I work as a Financial Management Assistant at Acclaim Academy in Philadelphia, a child care center developed by my family where I process and record payments and related financial transactions.

I participated as a Delegate with the Montessori Model United Nations conference in February 2020, where I presented my months-long research about coordinating international efforts against human trafficking, and addressing racial discrimination and xenophobia. I won an election for a leadership position at the conference so I could help create consensus amongst delegates with a wide variety of viewpoints.

I enjoyed attending Coding Camps with ID Tech in the summers of 2018 and 2020 where I built programs that taught women's history. I believe it is important for me to be effective in the use of technology as well as pursue it's use creatively.

I want to give as much back to Sanford as the school has given me, and I contribute by participating as a Student Ambassador, and being active with the Black Student Union and the Baking Club. I have also looked for and found ways to serve younger athletes in my gymnastics community by seeking to mentor and coach those who hope to achieve elite status, because I understand my success in the sport has come from the kind encouragement of elite athletes I have met along my path.
